Follow Your Bliss

Seriously ... to do anything else is a waste of material. Find your muse, fall in love with something, create something.  Do something that is significance to you.

This is a passage from "The Book of 5 Rings" or "Spheres" depending on which translation you read.

Miyamoto Musashi
is a well known duelist from the era of the Samurai ... he was renowned for his precision, ferocity, and skill. The book of 5 rings is a collection of his strategy and concepts in relation to the art of war.

More a manual on operating in any endeavor, not just the ways of war.

  • Do not think dishonestly.
  • The Way is in training.
  • Become aquainted with every art.
  • Know the Ways of all professions.
  • Distinguish between gain and loss in worldly matters.
  • Develop intuitive judgement and understanding for everything.
  • Perceive those things which cannot be seen.
  • Pay attention even to trifles.
  • Do nothing which is of no use.

My favorite:  "Do nothing which is of no use".
